GAG! is a collective of artists seeking to respond to institutionalized art spaces, create disruption as a mirror to systems of power, and encourage active participation. We gather resources, collaborate, mobilize, and find community. A place to self legitimize and self actualize, GAG! is the response to the longest inside joke. Here, we stay gagging at the results.

About GAG! presents… VIDEO series:

GAG! joins HUMAN RESOURCES during their summer screening series for another iteration of VIDEO.

GAG! Presents… VIDEO4. As a way to highlight video artists and blur the line between video art and cinema, GAG! brings together a select group of artists and filmmakers to screen pieces that are intended for the exhibition space. Simultaneously, VIDEO4 reimagines films intended for theaters within the context of video art. This screening allows audiences to approach these practices in a new light. Fine art + film = VIDEO4 ◡̈

Themes we’re exploring:

surveillance (being viewed, viewing others) turn of century (changes from moments of impact in the world and our lives)
information / media and how it abstracts information (fact, occurrence) collective memory(phenomenon, spectacle)
